Hello 3rd Grade Families, and welcome to our class. I'm a firm believer that as a parent, you are your child's first teacher and if we work together as a team, your child will have the most opportunities for academic success. I hope we can have the opportunity to get together with your 3rd grader so we are on the same page with goals, expectations, and all the learning changes we are facing together with the standardized testing, Common Core State Standards, and our new math program, Math Expression. I am very excited to encourage and facilitate the most productive learning environment for your child.
If you have questions before the start of school, please email me at hnelsen@gsd54.org and I will do my best to get back to you as soon as possible. If you would like to set-up a meeting with me before school starts, please email me or call the office and I will gladly make the arrangements.
I have attached a link to our supply list for this year, and our school calendar can be found on our school website www.gsd54.org. If for any reason, the supplies are not feasible for you to purchase, please don't fret, I collect donated supplies from many benefactors and can easily and discretely make sure your student has what they need.
I hope I can see and meet most of you on Tuesday, September 5th at 5:30 for our school open house! Your student can drop off school supplies, find their desk, and see what we will be doing the first week of school.
